Fenelon Falls

The falls from which the town takes its name
Lauren Grace and TI Rider (Ginger Glandon Nugent's boat) on the lock wall at Fenelon Falls. That's Ginger in the pink Capri's.
Sorry, I know I've posted this shot of the blue line before but I don't know how to delete it!

Beautiful Bobcaygeon (Bob kay' jun)

Unusual "cottage" with a green spar in the foreground.
Bobcaygeon had some of the most spectacular baskets we have seen on the trip

Bigley's Shoes, since 1911 and stocking 40,000 pairs of shoes. Note the beautiful baskets on the bridge across the TSW canal

WE AE STILL AMAZED BY THE PETERBOROUGH LOCK

View from the bow as Lauren Grace motors into the Peterborough Lift Lock.
"Going Up" as viewed from the bow.
At one lock the river above was a little high one day, this is one way they equalize the water in the system. It is a little disconcerting to drive into a waterfall!
A spar buoy marking a tight channel near rocky islands. Here they are easy to see, in big water they are not.

They have reached the bottom and the gate is lowering, it hinges right down into the water
Underneath the tub it is dry. Here's a shot of the ram that makes it all work
View looking down from the stern of Lauren Grace as we are lifted in the Peterborough Lock
The "bandit" tending lines on the foredeck in Peterborough Lock

PETERBOROUGH LIFT LOCK #1

A diagram of the Lift Lock from the visitor's center display at the Peterborough Lock.
This is how it looks driving in on the low side.
Notice the tour boat in the upper chamber that came in on the high side and is waiting to come down
Once the tub is loaded the transfer only takes two minutes. Here the upper tub is on the way down, forcing the lower tub up.

Interesting stuff at the Peterborough Canoe Museum

Typical of the beautiful public plantings we have seen throughout the system. These are in Peterborouch

Sites Along the TSW #3

Aboathouse on one of the small lakes
This is turning out to be a lock full.
And now they are adding one more! This is the first time the folks in the runabout have ever locked through and the kids are a little frightened. Larry & our friend Dan just kept talking to keep them calm.
This is the lockmaster with the great personality who shoe horned us all in there.
